West Warwick Pastor Pleads Guilty to Federal Drug Charge

“PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Erik F. Johansson, a minister in west warwick and registered caregiver in the state medical-marijuana program, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of growing more than 100 marijuana plants.

Johansson, 48, entered his plea Friday in U.S. District Court stemming from a raid at his church, at 724 Providence St., west warwick, on Sept. 14, 2010. The police said they seized 183 marijuana plants, far more than the 24 a registered caregiver is allowed to grow in the medical-marijuana program.

Johansson, who has been detained for months at the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, is scheduled to be sentenced May 24. The case was prosecuted by U.S. Attorneys Kenneth P. Madden and Richard B. Myrus.”
