Sex Charge Conviction for NJ Man in RI Federal Court

A New Jersey man was convicted in Rhode Island federal court on charges of aggravated sexual assault, and interstate travel to engage in illicit sexual acts.

According to authorities, Donald J. Jones of New Jersey, traveled to Rhode Island in April of 2011 to have sex with an 8-year-old girl.

In an article written by Richard C. Dujardin in the Providence Journal:

“Officials say Jones posted a message on an Internet site seeking a parent willing to allow him to have sex his or her child. A federal agent followed up by posing as a willing parent. Jones was arrested after stepping off a bus in downtown Providence in April 2011.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office has said that Jones is likely facing a sentence of life imprisonment.
