RI Drug Dealer Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A rhode island man who authorities say used his earnings from drug dealing to fund a lavish lifestyle has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The sentence was imposed Thursday on Napoleon Andrade. Chief Judge Mary Lisi said he faced up to 125 years for cocaine, marijuana, and firearms offenses.

Prosecutors described Andrade as a “brutal thug” and “menace to society.” They say he owned a $42,000 Dodge Challenger, yet has a work history that only includes short stints as a strip club bouncer.

Andrade told Lisi he had an “atrocious” childhood that inspired him to become a “tough guy.” He says he’s now seeking redemption.

Defense attorney Jack Cicilline asked Lisi to consider Andrade’s childhood when issuing his sentence.

Andrade pleaded guilty to multiple offenses in August.”
