Probation Check Alerts Police to Marijuana Growing Operation

“SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — A customary probation check alerted the police to a marijuana growing operation.

David D. Walmsley, 23, of 159 Alder Rd. in South Kingstown, was arrested on drug and weapon charges. He was ordered held Tuesday as a probation violator. Walmsely was not the probationer on whom the officers were checking.

The police seized nine marijuana plants, more than 4 1/2 pounds of packaged marijuana, $7,300 in cash, several non-prescribed medications, a digital scale, fertilizers and lighting for growing marijuana along with a 9-mm handgun and a .22-caliber rifle with a 100-round drum magazine.

The .22-caliber rifle had been reported stolen in 2009 in Fulton County, New York.”
