Police: Marijuana Odor Led to Drug Charges

“BURRILLVILLE, R.I. — Police charged a Massachusetts man with drug offenses Wednesday when he came to police headquarters allegedly smelling of marijuana.

Nathan I. Paff, 33, of Easton, went to the police station to retrieve a truck that had been stolen from him and had been recovered, Maj. Lareto Guglietta, a police spokesman, said.

Detective Sgt. Guy Riendeau noticed an “extremely strong smell of marijuana coming from Paff,” Guglietta said, and in checking Paff’s car, found 2½ pounds of marijuana, numerous pills, a scale, a large box of plastic sandwich bags, rolling papers, and more than $700 in cash.

Paff was ordered held without bail after a court appearance on drug charges.”
