Pawtucket Man Admits to Having Child Pornography

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Pawtucket man who prosecutors say had nearly 1,000 pornographic images of children on computers found in his home has admitted to the crime in federal court.

Gerard Proulx Jr. pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court Tuesday to one count of possession of child pornography.

Prosecutors say investigators in 2010 found about 940 images and 31 videos of child pornography on two computers belonging to Proulx. Prosecutors say police found the images while investigating Proulx’s roommate for possession of child pornography.

As part of a plea agreement signed last month, prosecutors have agreed to ask a judge to dismiss a charge of receipt of child pornography.

Proulx faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on April 6.”
